Most people believe in God and Jesus, or have a concept about them. Most people concept is probably warped, and what they understand about Him is bordering on the ridiculous If only they realize how real He is and how much He loves them. Whether we believe in Him or not, we are all naked before Him, and one day we stand before Him that way as well. We can surround ourselves with clothing, houses, cars and other processions that hide the way we truly are, but in the end when that all slips away, what is there to show for all that effort?
There is an old saying “There are no pockets in a burial shroud”. Naked we are born and naked we will leave the world, we can’t take anything with us accept what we have built into our relationship with Our Lord and Our Friend.
I am going to tell a story which has a basic truth about peoples understanding of God, and is sure to give you all a laugh as well.
A burglar broke into a house one night. He shone his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said, ‘Jesus know you’re there.’
He nearly jump out of his skin, click his flashlight off and froze.
When he he though things were quiet again, he continued on his stealing way.
He just pulled the stereo out, so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard, ‘Jesus is watching you.’
He freaked out again, and shone his light around frantically looking for the source of the voice.
Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam comes to rest on a parrot.
‘Did you say that?’ he blurted at the parrot.
‘Yes’ the parrot confessed. then it squawked, ‘I just trying to warn you that he is watching.’
‘Warn me, what do they call you, and who do you think you are,’ the burglar asked.
‘My name is Moses, ‘ the parrot replied.
‘Moses?’ the burglar laughed. ‘What kind of person would name their parrot Moses?’
‘Well, the same sort of person who would name a Rottweiler Jesus.’
Jesus is the Name above all Names, and people do have some fear of God talking audibly to them. Most of the time the fear comes from wrong doings. Genesis 3 verses 8 to 10:
v 8; “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and they hid themselves from their Lord God among the trees of the garden”.
V 9: ” So The Lord God called out to the man and said to Him, ‘Were are you’.”
V 10. “And he said, ‘I heard You in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid’.”
We are all naked before God and God really didn’t have to ask Adam where he was. because He knows everything anyway. God really wanted to know why he was hiding, even though He knew this to. He wanted Adam to confess what he had done wrong.
We can’t hid anything from God, and He wants us to be open and honest with Him. Accountability is a big word, that is missing from most people’s life styles these days. Accountability before God is what we all should have in our walk with Our Lord and Our Friend.
We should have nothing to fear by Jesus watching us, the real one is The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and we know that He is watching over us, to help us where ever we allow Him to.
