Fragrance of Christ
Can we really affect the world? Can we positively impact our community?
Is it possible to release the fragrance of Love wherever we go? I
certainly think it is. If we can have “stinking thinking” and if our attitude
can leave a “stench,” or if something can “smell off,” then why can’t we
leave a “sweet fragrance of Love?”
We carry the fragrance of heaven— “Christ in you the hope of glory”, so
let’s be conscious to release His fragrance wherever we are.
Like a person whose perfume lingers on your clothes long after they
have left, we can leave the fragrance of Love in our wake.
2 Corinthians 2:15 says, “we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ among those who
are being saved and those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15). It is
His LOVE that causes hearts to shift and change.
It may be the aroma of His peace, or His joy or His hope or His loving-
kindness that someone needs. We can have a ‘word in season for one
who is weary’ and thus leave behind the fragrance of our Lord and
Friend as we go. A smile, a listening ear or a genuine ‘thank you’ could
be what is needed to encourage another to just keep walking; The power
of genuine connection, engaging on purpose, with kindness and
gentleness as we seek to encourage someone.
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and
manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every
place”.
2 Corinthians 2:14 NASB1995
May we be aware that we are carriers of His Presence this week and
allow the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Christ to be released ‘in
every place’.
Shalom.
