Mark 1 Verse 15: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the good news’.
From the Message Bible: “after John was arrested. Jesus went to Galilee preaching the Message of God: ‘Time’s up1 God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the message’.”
When asked when the Kingdom of God would come, Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God does not come with careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is’, or ‘There it is’, because the Kingdom of God is within you.
God’s kingdom will be evident in the lives of those who make Him their Lord. This petition asks the Lord to change our lives so that His Goodness is always evident through us.
Some people have interpreted this prayer as an invitation to impact culture by passing laws calling people back to safer moral standards. But Jesus made clear His church’s mission: to lead people to Himself.
Jesus commissioned all disciples to proclaim that Jesus is King and Lord over all. Matthew 28 verse 18 to 20:
Verse 18:”Then Jesus came near and said to them, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth”.
Verse 19: Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the , Father and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit’.”
Verse 20: “Teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, And remember, ‘I am with you always, to the end of the age’.”
Our obedience to this commission helps spread God’s kingdom throughout the world.
God’s Sovereignty. When we focus on recognizing and embracing God’s reign in this world, we help make it visible.
