Weekend Inspiration

jesus

This week inspiration comes from our dear friend of the ministry Lorraine Szabo.  Lorraine has written numerous poems, some of which we have been blessed to use as our Weekend Inspiration,  This time we are blessed to use a reflection written by Lorraine as our ‘Weekend Inspiration’.

Lorraine’s Reflection

Jesus asked of His disciples, ‘When I send you without purse, bag or sandals, did did you lack anything?’ ‘Nothing’, they replied {He provides our every need}. He then said to them, ‘But now, if you have a purse, take it and also a bag and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. {an insight of what was to come}. It is written’. And He was numbered {counted as] with the transgressors {wrongdoers| And I tell you this must be fulfilled in me’. ‘Yes, What is written about me is reaching fulfillment’. {confirmation’} The disciples said, ‘See Lord, here are two swords.’ ‘That is enough’ He said, {Query the meaning of double edge sword in speech?}

Jesus went out as Usual to the mount of olives and His disciples followed Him. ‘Pray that you will not fall into temptation’, {he sent a warning to them?}. He withdrew about a stones throw beyond them {within hearing distance}, knelt down and prayed.

‘Father if You are willing, take this cup from me {How often in our lives do we pray this way?} Yet not My will but Yours be done {and this}?’ An angel appeared to Him and strengthened Him and being in such anguish, He prayed more earnestly {Do we neglect to do this} And the sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground {Sometimes, for us, it is also seems lake that}.

When He arose from prayer and returned to the disciples. He found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. {As Christians, in certain situations, we can become exhausted from sorrow and seek to be strengthened}. Jesus told them, ‘To get up and pray so that You will not fall into temptation’.

While He was still speaking a crowd came up and the man called Judas. one of the twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss Him but Jesus asked, ‘are you betraying the Son of man with a kiss?’.

When Jesus’ followers saw what saws going to happen. they said. ‘Lord should we strike with our swords?’ One of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off His right ear. Yet Jesus called out, ‘No more of this!’.

He touched the man’s ear and healed him. {How many of us have had to say, ‘No more of this, we need to be healed’. {In surrender and trust with faith}.

The message of The Cross continues today and has not Changed the significance of His death for us all. His sacrifice was for each one of us into eternity. His blessing are beyond comparison. His awesome miracles and never failing love are ours everyday.
