Setting Expectations

Setting expectations, what do we expect from life. Well what we expect from life changes the moment we recieve Christ Jesus as Our Lord, Our Savior and Our Friend.

Jeremiah 29 verse 11: tells us: “‘For I know the plans I have for you’— this is the Lord’s declaration—’plans for your, welfare, not for disaster to give you a future and a hope’.”

if we spend our time waiting to receive feelings from God, we are going to be disappointed. To make Christianity purely about feelings is to make it about ourselves rather than God. God doesn’t promise to constantly flood us with intense emotions, and it makes sense why He wouldn’t always fill us with a strong sense of His presence.

What we should be learning is to love God and live for him even if the feelings aren’t always there? It is commitment that we hold on to, in our good times and bad.

If our expectations are in Our Lord and Our Friend, we need to be taking time to learn more about Him. Not just settling our expectations, on somebody’s else knowledge about Him.

From the earliest days of the church, His followers have based their faith and closeness on theology, on what they knew about Him from His Word, rather then feelings. Many of the first Christians deid for believign in God. If anyone had the right to feel distant from God, wouldn’t it be people suffering for Him. Instead the early followers rejoiced at the chance to suffer for Christ Acts 5 verse 41:

Our expectation change with the new life we have in Christ Jesus, our life is never about us it is always about Him. 2 Timothy 2 verse 11:

For if we have died with Him, we will also live with Him.

Our expectations should be IN HIM, and the plans He has for our lives.

God Bless.
