Scripture Verse Of Week ‘2 Corinthians 6 Verse 18’

2 corth.jpg

  1. 2 Corinthians 6 verse 18:

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

This comes from a chapter that refers to Separation to God. In His writings Paul is imploring his readers not to have anything to do with people who lead them astray, but to separate themselves from them.

Separating ourselves from the kingdom of this world because we now belong to The Kingdom of God. We live in the world, but we are not of the world.

Our Lord and our friend wants to commune with us, and He cannot tolerate sin {wrong doings against Him}, and He calling us out from the world that regularly participate in them.

Sure we remain sinner saved by Grace, but we have now been forgiven, the start of a new walk in intimacy with God. Paul here quotes from the Old Testament to show us that God longs for intimate communion with us.

2 Samuel 7 verse 14 and 15: Referring to King David, who was called a man ‘A Man after God’s own heart’, and that is what we all should be ‘people after God’s own heart’.

V14: “I will be a Father to him, and he will be a son to Me.”

v15: “ My faithful love will never leave Him”

David was a man after God’s own heart, King Saul was not,a reference to the two kingdoms.

God longs to be a ‘Father’ to both men and woman. He wants affection relationship with both sons and daughters, but we must leave one kingdom thinking and lifestyle, and live where we belong, in His Kingdom, even though our feet are in this world.

    2 Corinthians 6 verse 16:

“For we are the sanctuary of the living God, as God said: ’ I will dwell among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Verse 17 goes on to say, come out from among the people, that are apart of a different kingdom, where God is not their King, keep ourselves clean before God, {but we can only do this with His help} and He will welcome us, to be called sons and daughters.

God so loved that He gave. We should responded to the love, so He can call us sons and daughters.

    God Bless

Our ‘Weekend Inspiration is again one of  Loraine’s inspiring poem. Be inspired and enjoy the talented work of a special lady.

Lightening splits and spill thunderous clouds apart

in awesome scenes across a black, bleak sky,

rolling and sucking departure of day to close in so dark.

For all storms in life teach us to ask why

just as nature sets many horizons on fire, so stark,

God unleashes his plans and even angels cry.

of lessons we learn as life goes by.

Of times so harsh that led us to truth,

to empathy, to compassion for each other

in which shared seasons did love soothe.

After violent storms pass, peace and silence seek

    circles of another

encounter of God’s weaving of times

    when we are weak

and need to lean on him so courage defines

    our closeness to him

as heart to heart we draw to him one by one

as life’s storms pass and fade to become dim

we acknowledge the gathering of his care, of he who has no sin

  9. Less like this, please

First we need a seeking heart.

Deuteronomy 4 verse 29: “But from there, you will search for the LORD your God, and you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart and all your soul.”

Hebrews 11 verse 6: “Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.”

It is no good seeking and finding if our lives are not prepared for what we find. Hunger for God compels us to seek the Our Lord and Our Friend through His Word. As His Word puts it ‘He is faithful to reward all those who seek for Him.’

Seeking God is different for every person, but consistency is essential. When we get out of bed in the mornings, we should greet the Lord, with what will you use me for today Lord. There should be an expectancy for the day, we are the vessel and  The Holy Spirit is the Guiding Force and the Power in our lives.

When I am at home, most times I can be found in my office, surrounded by Bibles and reference books. I have nearly all the translations available, His Word is precious to me, I love to glean from the different flavor of scripture, even going back to the original Hebrew and Greek texts if necessary.

We will never Know all there is to know about God on this side of eternity, because knowledge about Him is too vast for even the biggest and most powerful computer.

Willingness  just to know more about Him and His great Love for me and everyone else for that matter.

There is inside me, ‘A longing to know Him more’

‘A longing to experience Him more.’

’ A longing to hear from Him more.’

Which brings about a hunger for Him and a willingness for more of God. Developing a yearning to know more about Our Lord and Our Friend, is more exciting and enjoying, than anything else one can do in their entire lives

The vastness of God consumes me, but I for one will never quit growing and discovering, more of the Great Love and Great Things and Great Purposes our God has for all of us.

Be willing, Be active in pursuing  more about Our Lord and Our Friend.

    God Bless.

  15. Gratitude For Our Forgiveness

Set apart, through acceptance of what Our Lord and Our Friend did on the cross for any ‘whosoever’. We are  redeemed to walk differently, by the power of The Holy Spirit, Who is freely given to us.

Ephesians 4 verse 29: {Message Bible}  “Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. say only what helps, each word is a gift.“

The Gift of Salvation sets us apart, but we still let things hold us back. Forgiveness is probably the greatest key to life.

We experience divine forgiveness for our sins only as we extend forgiveness to those who have offended us.

Forgiveness is as powerful and liberating as the healing of a paralytic. And it’s a power that Jesus has delegated to His followers. John 20 verse 23:

Unforgiveness is like a jail where we ourselves hold the key, but our so call hurts stop us from using it.

Gratitude is one of the greatest blessing in life, when we understand the compassion and forgiveness Our Lord and Our Friend offers, we should be full of Gratitude.

Grace is undeserved favor, It is offered to us by Our Lord and Our Friend.

If God can offer undeserved favor to us through His Son, the Fruit of our lips should be filled with Grace, Gratitude, and Forgiveness, towards all, no matter what they have done to us.

Let us be Fruitful in all we do,so that in some small way, can serve with Gratitude to Our Loving God.

    God Bless.

    O F J.
