Reflective Moment ‘Running Away From Temptation’

run

Temptation, when we say the ‘Lord’s Prayer’, we ask Him, not to bring us into temptation. Matthew 6 verse 13.

Our Lord and Our Friend tells us to stay awake, so we won’t enter into temptation. Matthew 26 verse 41. Somehow here, He is not talking about sleep, which we all need, it is more about remaining ‘Spiritually Awake’.

But we are told, that, temptations will come, 1 Corinthians 10 verse 13:

“No temptations has overtaken you except what is common to humanity, God is faithful and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape, so that you are able to bear it.

As we all may know some temptations are quite bearable, but they still remain no good for us. Genesis 39 verse 1 to 39;

Joseph after all he had gone through, being sold by his own brothers.

Joseph had been brought by Potiphar {an officer in Pharaoh Guard}, as a slave, but because of Joseph great faith, he soon rose, to a position of trust. V5: “The Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house because of Joseph.

Because the blessings were on what Potiphar owned, he left all he owned under Joseph’s Authority.

Joseph must have thought, he was in a pretty good position now, but temptation came. Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph  and said, ‘Come to bed with me’. {v 7}.

Giving into the master’s wife, may have helped, Joseph career, but his character meant more to him than his career, and he ran from the house. This got Joseph into more trouble and was back in jail again.

But Joseph must have held by faith, something Jeremiah was to say, in Jeremiah 29: Josephs integrity, must have believed that despite what happen to him, God had plans for his life.

Temptations will come, will we run like Joseph, despite what can happen to us.

God Bless.
