Philippians 2 verse 12:
“So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but now even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”.
The Bible tells us to work out our own Salvation with fear and trembling.
The Amplified Bible, puts it like this: “Work out — cultivate, carry out to the goal and fully complete — your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling {self-distrust, that is, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation; timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ}.”
So wonderfully put, ‘shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the Name of Christ.
To work out our salvation with reverence and awe, our body, soul, and spirit must be God-conscious. Living under the Grace of God will help us to live in God-consciousness because the Grace of God is Christ Jesus Himself.
Having God-consciousness is different from being sin-conscious. As followers we must not have sin-consciousness because Our Lord and Our Friend has redeemed us from the law of sin and death. Sin-consciousness focuses on self, that is, being self-centered, focusing on I {me}.
Galatians 2 verse 20: “and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh, i live by Faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”,
This is a wonderful statement to reflect on, becoming more God-conscious, For God so loved, He gave the Best He had His Son Christ Jesus, Now we are to give the best we have, that is all and every part of us, to glorify Him, though the gift of Salvation He has bestowed on us.
God Bless.
