Faith In Action ‘Our Best’

motions

Our best is the only thing good enough in our response to God’s calling.

If we look at the Book of Malachi from the Old Testament, through out this short book, Malachi complains that the people go through the motions of worship as though it’s the motion that God’s wants.

The same as can be said today, we miss the point; Our Lord and Our Friend wants our motions to follow out of an inner sense of devotion and love. If we are going to follow Him out of obligation, we may as not follow Him at all. The people in Malachi’ day were bringing the least they though they could get away with.

Even in the New Testament, we still can see perceived evidence, of people going through the motion. Acts 3; is all about Peter and John, going to the temple to pray. Peter and John were going there to worship and bring glory to God for the right reason. There was a man lame from his birth, who was carried to the temple gate to beg for arms. The man was carried there regularly, because he knew that people on the way to the temple were more generous, or wanted to be seen more generous. these would have been the ones just going through the motions.

We have written on Peter and John’s response to the man’s need, they gave out of the best they had, ‘such as we have in the Name of Jesus’.

That response doesn’t come from somebody going through the motions, and should be a response that comes from us all. Just going through the motions, will never allow us to grow in the gifts and the blessings Our Lord and Our Friend wants to bring to our lives.

Romans 12 verse 1: “Therefore, brother {sisters, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship”.

Romans 12 verse 2; Goes on to tell us,not to conform to the age we are in, where it is ok just to go through the emotions to get by. but allow ourselves to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. so we are pleasing to God.

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing and perfect will of God”.

Going through the motion of just doing things for Our Lord and Our Friend, is never good enough, for our Love witness for Him. We need to be discerning people and do what ever is good and pleasing in the sight of God for us.

God Bless.
