The second in our ‘Insight From A Book Of The Bible’ series. Colossians
We have books that are close to our hearts in all stages of life, whatever joys or valleys, Colossians is the one that comes to mind.
The Apostle Paul writes this book, to demonstrate that Christ is supreme over every human philosophy and accomplishment.
In Colossians , God is growing a new church in Colossae, The gospel is growing, spreading and bearing fruit. God’s love through His Spirit is flowing through the church.
Believers in the city are learning a new way of life. They used to worship idol, and Our Lord and Our friend, as He has done with so many, has transferred them out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light. Like us all, they have so much to learn about walking with the one true God.
Paul in his writing , makes it clear the one thing they need in the centre of their lives {like us} is Jesus:
Colossians 1 verse 18 to 20 {Message Bible} ” He was supreme in the beginning and — leading the resurrection parade— he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering for above everything.everyone.So spacious is He, so roomy, that everything of God finds it’s proper place in Him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe–people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmony, all because of His death, His blood that poured down from the cross”.
As Jesus is at the centre of all of life, His place is at the centre of our own lives too. The wonderful secret that God has been bending history towards is this: God has reconciled us to Himself so that He can come to live inside of us through His Spirit. Life is a journey of pressing further into Him. Jesus is the purpose of life, He is treasure we should seek.
As we pursue Him, He will marvelously shape our souls, and we will find everything we have ever believed to long for.
Our Lord and Our Friend brings in the wonderful intentions He had from before time began, He moves into us, as close as He can possibly be> And one day, He will set the world right, purifying it from brokenness, there will never be a possibility of a shadow in the intimacy we have with Him and in Him.
Perfect closeness. undisturbed Closeness with all who receive. John 3 verse 16: ‘Any whosoever’ can come and receive, the unimaginable things, He has for us. That is the intentions of God’s unfathomable good heart.
The writer Paul writes to demonstrate that Christ is supreme over every human philosophy and accomplishment.
Insight from Colossians Christ is supreme, and will be supreme in our lives, if we let Him.
God Bless.
