Faith In Action ‘Confidence In Knowing’

PSALM 23

The Good Shepherd.

This well known Psalm is a Psalm of confidence.

The metaphor of the Shepherd was a common use for religious leaders.

It is used in this Psalm as a powerful image of the Messiah (Jesus Christ). Examples in other scripture verses.

Psalm 74 verses 1 to 4 Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture.

Isaiah 40 verse 11 He protects His flock like a Shepherd.

Ezekiel 34 verse 15 I will tend My Flock and let them lie down.

The new testament confirms that passages like this point to the ministry of Jesus Christ, the good Shepherd, who lays down His life for His sheep.

John 10 verse 14 I am the good shepherd, I know My sheep and they know me.

1 Peter 5 verse 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

These examples of a shepherd portrays how the Lord teaches, heals, guides and protects.

Psalm 23

v 1 The Lord is my Shepherd      (He is always looking out for us)

there is nothing I lack.        (we have assurance and contentment)

v 2 He lets me lie down in green pastures.     (He is our rest)

He leads me beside quite waters             (HE refreshes my soul)

v 3 He renews my life.                  (He invigorates me to do great things for Him)

He leads me along the right paths, for His Name sake    (He has a direction He wants me to take)

v 4 Even when I go through the darkest valley. I fear no danger, for You are with me, Your rod and your staff they comfort me.                                                   (But even when I go through times of trouble He is there with me My ever present Lord and Friend.)

v 5 You prepare a table before me, in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil my cup overflows                                                                     (He is there when the whole world is against me, He provides for us under any circumstances and He consecrates me and all that He gives me should overflow in my life as a testimony to Him)

V 6 Only goodness and faithful love, will pursue me, all the days of my life. and I will dwell in the House of the Lord as long as I live.

(He will never leave us or forsake us, He loves us to much, and the assurance that if you let Him lead you, He will dwell with you now and in eternity)

If you are going through though circumstances at the moment remember, the word was thorough, and keep moving, trust the Lord and you will find new strength.

Isaiah  40 verse 31

Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.

They will soar high on wings like eagles.

They will run and not grow weary.

They shall walk and not faint.

Let the Loving Graciousness of Psalm 23 flood through your body, soul and spirit. As the Creator God of the universe promised, He is there for us.

Reflect on this no matter what is going on in the world, and the business of it. THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD.

Lets bring our attention to bring many lost back to the Great Shepherd. {Our Lord and Our Friend}

God Bless
