Many people put a lot of time and effort into being like the others around them. They follow the thoughts, opinions and trends of so called trend leaders. If it is trendy is must be alright.

Our Lord and Our Friend challenges us not to be like everybody else. Telling people a hard truth, includes many risks, and you may not be liked or approved of anymore. This never worried John the Baptist, he was called to prepare the way of Our Lord.

When Christ Jesus returns again, there will be no chance of not knowing who He is, for He is coming back in all His Majesty King Of Kings and Lord of Lord. Unfortunately the world again has become a wilderness to His Truth, so we too, have a ministry to prepare away for His return.

We are called to be ambassadors for His Kingdom, and opposing popular opinion in favor of Godly wisdom can make a person very unpopular. it is easier just to go along with the flow. Yet God’s Word shows us that it is better when we honor His Truth, rather than the shifting sands of various opinions in the world.

Example of being called to stand against popular opinions can be found in the Book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament: Ezekiel 11 verses 2to 4″

{Message Bible} V2 and 3 ” God said, “son of man, these are the men who draw up blueprints for sin, who think up new programs for evil in this city. They say, ‘we can make anything happen here. we’re the best. we’re the choice pieces of meat in a soup pot’.”

V4:”Oppose them, son of man. Preach against them.”

This was not a one off to Ezekiel, four times, God called Ezekiel to go against the popular wisdom of his day.

Telling people a hard truth may involve risk, but is it truly loving somebody when we fail to warn them of things, that go against Our Lord and Our Friend.

2 Peter 13 verse 17 and 18: V17 “Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard, so that you are not led away by the error of the immoral and fall from your own stability

V18 But grow in the Grace and Knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and to the day of eternity, Amen.”

The cost of being true to Our Lord and Our Friend, far out ways some of the friends we might lose, for us failing to follow the trendy and popular opinions, they may subscribe too.. We have been given a new purpose and destiny, let that new purpose and destiny shine as an example, to the Grace that has been given to us.

Let that Grace speak though our lives as our testimony.
