From The Heart

In Christ

As believers we have the perfect basis for a proper sense of identity and self-worth, as we see ourselves ‘in Christ’ and thus dependent on the value God places on our lives rather than the value, we ourselves or others may place of our lives. As we are ‘in Christ’, Father God looks upon us with tender mercy and loving kindness – just as He looks at His beloved Son our Lord Jesus Christ.

Just as Holy Spirit was with Jesus during His earthly ministry, so He is with us to strengthen, encourage, lead and guide and teach us how to abide in Christ and walk in victory every day. Kindness, gentleness, peace, joy and patience are just a few of the fruits/characteristics of Holy Spirit as described in Galatians. He comes alongside to help us.

Three of the fundamental needs people have for a sense of purpose and significance are Acceptance; Belonging and Competence. Each of these are found in Christ.

1. Acceptance Ephesians 1 verse 6 “ to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved” NKJV

2. Belonging John chapter 1 verse 12 “but as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His Name”

3. Competence. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me”.

Our union ‘in Christ’ is a call for us to be Christ-centered and orientated in our thinking. The believer’s life is hidden permanently in God through this union and identification with Christ.

Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 1 verse 3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” Colossians 2:10 “and you are complete in Him, Who is the head of all principality and power”.

I am so grateful that God in His abundance of grace and mercy, has called me to Himself and placed me in this safe place “in Christ”, in the cleft of the Rock of ages. Hidden ‘in Christ’, as believers we are nourished and supplied by hidden resources; for example His peace that passes understanding, fullness of joy in His Presence.

God’s rich blessings.
