Faith In Action ‘In Faith We Go’

William Carey was a missionary from the United Kingdom and accepted the call to go evangelize India.

He thought he could help God too, so when he set out from Scotland to go to India he took lots of scissors. as a way of helping to pay for his trip. When he got to India, India was actually very big in the production of scissors, so William’s idea of help paying for his trip didn’t help.

WE need to admire William’s acceptance of the call to go, but like us all we should remember God has plans for us, “and they are for our good and not for our ruin’ Jeremiah 29 verse 11. and how we go about things may not be the best way for the purpose Isaiah 55 verse 8:’ “For My thoughts are not your thoughts and your ways are not My ways,” This is the Lord’s declaration.’ William Carey went on to have an amazing ministry in India,

But he didn’t have it all his own way, his first wife didn’t want to go to India, didn’t have the same heart for ministry and went mad and died there. His scond wife also died after a time. His third wife carried on the ministry after William himself passed away.

Why I am so fascinated with William is one of his quotes;

““Attempt great things for God, Expect great things from God.”

Expectant faith, even though he did try to help.

Expectant heart accepting the calling, and learning and growing as he established a great ministry to bring Glory to His Lord and Friend.

Our Lord and Our Friend said to us, Mark 16 verse 15:

“Then He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole of creation”

All the world can often mean our own back yard, where over time a hardness to truth might have come. Maybe sometimes where we are to preach and teach the Gospel, might be just around our neighborhood. Use words if necesary, because a person of faith should be known by their actions.

God Bless.
