From The Heart

Love is in the air
I’m not sure how many of our readers remember or even know this old song by
an Australian artist, “love is in the air”. Some of the lyrics are “love is in the air;
everywhere I look around, every sight and every sound, in the whisper of the
tree, in the thunder of the sea, in the rising of the sun”. When we feel loved
(and are loving someone), this can often be how we feel. Our senses are
heightened, and life is beautiful.
Last Sunday we had a minister at church who was speaking about the
transformation of the Apostle John – from the son of thunder to the apostle of
love. He was sharing from the book of Revelation 1:1 “The Revelation of Jesus
Christ which God gave Him to show His servants”.
The minister went on to share from John’s gospel about how John always
referred to himself (5 times) as ‘the disciple whom Jesus loved’. John 13:23,
19:26, 20:2, 21:7, 21:20. Apostle John had a revelation of how much God loved
him, so much so, that from reading this Gospel, it became his identity.
We are transformed when we choose to believe and receive the AGAPE love –
unconditional undeserved love of God. Not because we deserve it, or as if are
worthy because of all the great things we do, but simply because God chooses
to love us, because GOD IS LOVE. It’s His nature!
As I started writing today with ‘love is in the air’, I wanted us to ponder on
that. Our Lord and Friend is omnipresent – He is everywhere, all at the same
time. So truly, LOVE IS IN THE AIR. His presence invades the earth – He is all
around us. It is up to you and me to be aware, to be present in the moment,
and acknowledge His wonderful Presence in the very air we breathe.
How beautiful life is when we mediate on His loving Presence within us and
beside us and all around us – surely goodness and mercy follow me all the days
of my life. Surely, I am surrounded with favor like a shield. He is my shield, my
fortress, my hiding place, my shelter/refuge in the storm.
Jude 1:20 exhorts us ‘beloved, build yourself up in your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Spirit’ v21 ‘keep yourselves in the love of God’. One way
we keep ourselves in the love of God, is by meditating on the truth of His Word
– He never leaves us nor forsakes us and we love Him because He first loves us.

Rich blessings
