Loneliness can mean either isolated from God, or from other humans, longing for acceptance.
Loneliness can be a painful place to be, so lets look at some scriptures that can help us all deal with this difficult issue.
Deuteronomy 31 verse 6: “Be strong and courageous, don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For it is the Lord your God who goes with you, He will not leave you or forsake you.”
As in all our difficulties, the first place anyone should look is to Our Lord and Our Friend.
Sometimes it may seem that God is absent, and even the Psalmist felt this way at times.
Psalm 13 verse 1: Lord how long will You continually forget me, How long will You hide Your face from me.
But we have a promise from Our Lord and Our friend. Mathew 28 verse 20: “Teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, And remember, ‘I am with You always to the end of the age’.”
And we can be sure this is a true promise and that Jesus knows all about loneliness. Mark 15 verse 34: “And at three, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ which is translated, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me’?”
The pain that Jesus felt on the cross at this time, was apart of his great love for us. as we keep on saying it wasn’t the nails that held Him, but it was His love.
The promise is there in the Old Testament Deuteronomy 31 verse 6 and in the New Testament Mark 28 verse 20.
Even if your loneliness causes you sleep problems. Psalm 102 verse 7, but as always the Lord is waiting to help Psalm 103 verse 17.
He also knows about the people who have no family, that is why He has told us to come Boldly before the Throne of Grace, at the time of your need.
Loneliness and how daunting it can be, nothing is too great for Our Lord and Our Friend to help us with. We must always remember He is with us no matter what we go through.
We were created for communion with Him, and in His present we will always be made welcome. He loves you to much to leave any of us lonely.
