Chaplain Message
I was trying to comfort and encourage a lady in my office the other day who had totally given up on life and was hurting so badly. Even though she was in trouble in her circumstances, my heart went out to her for she had lost all hope. At that moment I became so conscious of the pain and hurt in our world, that I’m sure you are as well.
As I pondered this, I recalled the words penned by a former General in the Salvation army, titled, “They need Christ”.
There are people hurting in the world out there. There are children crying and no one to care. And they’ll go on hurting I n the world out there. And they’ll go on dying in despair. And they’ll go on crying that unless we care. They need you; they need me, they need Christ.
There are people living who would rather die, and their Christian neighbors simply pass them by! There are people sitting by the phone: People cold and hungry, people left alone; They need you; they need me, they need Christ.
There are runaways who want a place to go; there are alcoholics who don’t seem to know. They need you; they need me, they need Christ. There are godless people who have lost their way, and the need God’s love but they are afraid to say. If we close our eyes perhaps, they’ll go away, without you, without me, without Christ.
Jesus said in Mark 12 verses 30 and 31: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your souls and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this; Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than theses. “Our neighbors are those we encounter every day. I wonder what kind of neighbor we are.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for blessing us with so much. Please help us to reach out and help our neighbors who are less fortunate and in need. Bless us and our families this week and keep us safe I pray. In Jesus name. Amen.
God Bless.
