Sunday Encouragement

If this is your day for rest, like us all you still need encouragement. Be encouraged today by this wonderful scripture from Luke 24 Verse 15:

Luke 24 Verse 15: “And while they were discussing and arguing, Jesus Himself came near and began to walk along with them”.

The news had not been good, these two people were walking away back to there homes. The expectations that these two had, had been dashed. They had believed in someone calling himself the Messiah, and he had been crucified. Their hope for a new life, had apparently died too.

They were walking away, mostly likely disappointed and bewildered at what had just happen. They were also arguing among themselves. Questions like what will we do now? How could we have got that so wrong?

They must have not understood correctly, because Jesus was the Messiah, they had been following. He told them, He was going to die but death could not hold Him down, He would rise from death.

Then He appears nest to them walking along the road, but scripture says they were prevented from recognizing Him. Jesus wanted to know what troubled them. Then He goes on to explain scripture verse 27:

“Then beginning with Moses and the Prophets, He interpreted for them the things concerning Himself in all the scriptures”.

We too, may be walking away, with our disappointments of life. Things might not gone as we expected. We could be wondering what we do and go next. Jesus is right with us too, tell Him, the hurts and disappointments, and listen while He points out how much He loves us.

The story in Luke goes on and the two people end up inviting Jesus back home with them. {Verse 29} In the truth of that fellowship in their house they recognized Jesus for who He is.

The the two went back to find the other followers, in the place they had left disappointed. But now they went back with ‘hearts ablaze’, understanding what Jesus had told them from the scriptures,

Just as these two were walking away from the circumstances of life disappointed, let our disappointment be transformed by the risen Lord. If you haven’t already ask him to be Your Lord, Your Redeemer and Your Friend.
