THE LORD OF LANGUAGE
Throughout the Bible I rejoice in the language expressed there. It brushes me with the strength and sweetness of honey. It stirs my heart with its wisdom and beauty. God’s words of fragrance bless me as no other that reinforces his love for us.
In Nahum, Chapter one, the imagery that comes from;
His way is in the whirlwind and the storm and clouds are the dust of his feet.
He rebukes the sea and dries it up; he makes all the rivers run dry.
The mountains quake before him and the hills melt away.
The earth trembles at his presence, the world and all who live in it.
His wrath is poured out like fire. The rocks are shattered before him.
The power, the awe, the vastness of God’s control over the earth is supreme and yet humbly he promises us this chance of salvation if we turn to him and receive his ultimate and gracious favor. In verse seven we are told, ‘The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.’ So how can we not hear the call from this great God with words of such awesome language of his power.
Verse nine says: ‘Whatever they plot against the Lord he will bring to an end, trouble will not come a second time.’ He reminds us that he is always in control and that his power is eternal and endless.
Listen closely to the Lord’s Language, absorb and be blessed.
