Not Just A Bible Character ‘John The Baptist’

Read about John the Baptiste in Luke chapter 3.

“Repent, repent’ was the cry of John the Baptist. He told people they needed to stop doing wrong things. Why? Because Jesus was coming and they needed to get ready to welcome Him as their Savior and Lord. John was the one who baptized Him when Jesus began His earthly ministry.

Forerunner of the Messiah who prepared the people for Jesus’, coming, proclaimed the need for forgiveness of sins, and offered a baptism symbolizing repentance. His ministry included baptizing Jesus in the Jordon River, where he testified to Jesus being the expected One from God.

John was arrested and beheaded by Herod Antipas in approximately Ad 29, while Jesus was still ministering.

The unusual dress of John was clothing made from camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His diet, locusts and wild honey.

Strengths we can take from John’s life;

He was God-appointed messenger to announce the arrival of Jesus.

A fearless confronter and preacher whose theme was repentance.

Known for his remarkable lifestyle and was uncompromising.

Lesson we can take from John’s life.

God calling does not guarantee an easy or safe life to those who serve Him.

Faith and standing in the truth of our faith is more important than life itself.

Fulfilling God’s desires is the greatest pleasure we can take form life, because He always knows what is best for us.

John did not conform to the society of his day, because he was on a mission to complete a calling God had given to him.

Commitment to Our Lord and Our Friend, is a wonderful way to live our lives.

Scripture Verse to remember Luke 3 verse 16: “John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier that i cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.”

God Bless.
