Foolishness To The World

There is an amazing verses int The New Testament, in which the apostle Paul refers to the cross of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1 verse 18:

V18: “For those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God’s power”.

V19: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the experts”.

Paul refers to the cross of Jesus Christ as foolishness to the Greek and a stumbling block to the Jew. From life at the times it would be easy to understand why Paul said this, after all, to the Greek mind, sophistication, philosophy, and learning were exalted pursuits. How could one that was killed in such away as crucifixion. possibly bring knowledge.

The Jewish mind, was a longing mind on the other hand. There was a cry and longing to be free. What they wanted was someone who could take up their cause and altogether repeal the enemies that oppress them.

Yet the path Jesus chose was one to reach out to you and me. This thing called sin, {the thing many don’t like to talk about} because the best way to describe sin {is wrong-doing against God}. Brings separation from God, not because God is an over lording god, He knows because we were created in His image, what is best for us in our lives. Jeremiah 29 Verse 11:

“’For I know the plans I have for you” —this is the Lord’s declaration—”plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’.”

We will ten discover that it is sin that is foolishness. Our greatest weakness is not an enemy from without, but from within. It is our own weak wills that cause us to stumble. The Cross is where Jesus Christ frees us from the foolishness of sin and the weakness of ourselves.

This is the very reason Paul went on to say, that he preached Jesus Christ as one crucified, because i is both the Power of God and Wisdom of God.

God Himself paid the price on the set us free from the thing He knew so easily bound us {wrong-doing Sin}. Maybe not an intellectual answer, or even an answer we are looking for.

For God always acts out of Love, through the Cross He showed His greatest Love for us, His answer for our deliverance from sin, He paid for Himself.

The Cross is not foolishness, but His love abounding to us.

God Bless
