Scripture Verse Of The Week ‘Philippians 3 VERSE 12’

philv12

Philippians 3 Verse 12: “Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus”.

There is an old chorus, that goes something like this, ‘My Beloved is mine and I am His, and His banner over me is love’. Once we ask Our Lord and Our Friend to become Lord of our lives, great things happen. We are transformed from the world of darkness into His Glorious Kingdom.

New positioning in our lives, Colossians 3 verse 10: “And have put on the new man {or woman}, who is being renewed in knowledge according to image of His Creator”.

We start off on a new beginnings for our life, and the Apostle Paul who wrote Philippians and Colossians that even with the wonderful revelation he had about his new life in Christ Jesus, there was a lot more to know. He is urging us, like he is doing himself to press on, to knowing more of the fullness of Christ.

Paul disclaims any idea that he is a perfect and complete Christian. His goal, he says, is the prize of the upward call of God. Paul’s aim is to be like a spiritual athlete, going flat our towards the finishing line to win the first prize and recieve the crown of glory.

But. not like an athlete, Paul is not concerned about himself. In the Christian advancement to maturity, there is not one single winner. Paul’s ambitions for his friends at Philippi to whom he was writing this letter, and to all who accept the great news of the Gospel message, is that each person should be the very best for Our Lord, Our Redeemer and Our Friend.

Take hold of the message, grow in it, bask in it, be saturated by it, press on in the high calling we have, as representatives of the Kingdom of God. So the world may know He lives and has an individual purpose for each one of our lives.

God Bless.
