Job An Intriging Message

Elihu was one of Job’s friends, the son of Barachel. Elihu spoke about suffering as a form of discipline after three of Job’s friends failed to answer Job’s arguments. {Job 32 verse 2}

Elihu wanted Job to consider God’s greatness and the wonders of nature and realize how little Job knew about God and His working in this world. Behind Elihu statement to Job was three rhetorical questions. Questions about the clouds, the lightening, the wind, and the rainless skies, “Can you explain these things?” he asked. “Can you control them?’ And “Can you do that?’ The questions we ask about God shouldn’t bring us to or drive us to unbelief but to humility. {Job 37}.

Elihu called attention to God’s mighty power in nature. Look, God is greater than we can understand”. {Job 36 v 26}.

Elihu’s closing words reminds us that even though we can’t fully understand God, we know that He is great and just and does not afflict people to no purpose. What should our response be? “All who are wise show Him reverence”.

Job had come to that same conclusion after pondering the works of God in the world. Job 28 verse 23 to 28:

V23: “But God understands the way to wisdom, and He knows its location”.

V24: “For He looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens”.

V25: “when He established a limit for the rain and a path for the lightening”.

V27: “He considered wisdom and evaluates it; He established it and examines it”.

V28: “He said to mankind, “Look! The fear of The Lord—that is wisdom, and to turn from evil is understanding”.

Job is all he was going through, came to the same conclusion, after pondering the works of God in the world. So like Job, when we are going through difficult times and things we do not understand, let us embrace the reverent fear of Our Lord and Our Friend,  and acknowledge Him in His greatness as Lord of our lives afresh.

Colossians 3 verse 16: ‘Let the message about Christ, in all it richness, fill your lives”.

More understanding, about Him and His great love for us, will come when we let the richness of Who He is, fill our lives, and become the message displayed through our lives.

God Bless.
