Weekend Inspiration

Once again we want to thank the other John, John H, for an article to use as our weekend inspiration. John H was back to visit us on Friday, and gave us this wonderful article to use, ‘Promise of Eternal Security’.

We have the promise of eternal security. John 3 verse 16:

“For God loved the world in this way; He gave His One and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life”.

To believe in Him means to receive Him. Again, Jesus said ‘My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand’. John 1 v !2:

“But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His Name”.

We are members of the family, grafted in, joint heirs in Jesus. And what about this, 1 John 5 verse 13:

“I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life”.

Ephesian 4 verse 30:  Tells us we are sealed by the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption. Don’t be in constant fear of losing your salvation. Grab hold on those promises of God– we are kept by His power, not our own power, and He has given us those promises of  eternal security. But what if we sin, if we fall short, as we are sure to do, sooner or later? Well, how about 1 John 1 v 4 to 10: which says that, ‘the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin’. and that ‘if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins”.

Again, Hebrews 12 verse 4 to 8: Which says that our heavenly Father can discipline or chasten us, but He will not condemn us with the world. 1 John 4 verse 19; Says, ‘we love Him because  He first loved us.’ That sense of thankgiving and gratitude, of awe and amazement that God had to go through all that anguish to save us because He loved us, results in us loving Him back.

Galatians 5 verse 6: States that ‘Faith work through love’.

It’s the overflow of us loving Him back that enables us to love others. Also we hate to grieve God because we love Him.

Finally, it can be proven that the ability to repent and have faith are gifts from God.
