No More Babes, But Bastions Of Faith

Growing up in Faith, just as we grow up and mature in life, we should also grow up and mature in Faith. 1 Corinthians 3 verse 1:

“Brothers {and sisters}, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as babes in Christ.”

The Apostle Paul had just gone into considerable detail in 1 Corinthians 2 verse 6 to 16: describing the difference between people who attempt to get by with only human wisdom {non believers] and those who have responded to the leading of the Holy Spirit and are able to discern the mind of Christ {believers}.

Paul is differentiating between mature and immature followers. To use the word ‘babe’ theses days, is most likely a term of endearment or harassment , but in the context of scripture here, it was a sign of immaturity.

The church at Corinth was overall immature. and all though the members had been followers for a number of years, they were still babes in their faith.

Being immature and babyish we need to depend on someone else faith, because our own faith is not strong enough to get us though life journey. The Corinthian Believers, should have processed a mature hunger for real Christ-centered teaching, but they were still acting immature.

They were wanting the milk of The Word {the benefits that come from believing}, and apparently unable to move to the solid truths of The Gospel {growing in righteousness, being able to give of themselves, and growing in the other graces}.

Paul considered himself the spiritual father of the Corinthian believers and wanted his ‘children’ to mature as they should, Every parent wants to see their children grow out of the self-centered stage, and grow into people of God, who have purpose and destiny.

It is one thing to come to the acceptance, of The Good news, it is another to step into Christ Jesus and all He has for us, as apart of acceptance of that Good News.

Grow through investing time, in God’s Word:

From Infants in Christ:  1 Corinthians 3 verses 1 to 4;

To being a fertile field for God to plant in our lives: 3 verses 5 to 9;

To a Temple of The Holy Spirit: 3 verses 16 and 17:

Let us all be no more Babes of faith, but Bastions of faith, that frighten the life out of the evil one,

God Bless.
