By their fruits you will know them, and not by the jerseys that they wear. We never just put on a Christian team jersey, we put on ‘Christ’. We should be known by our fruit, the fruit growing on the presence of The Holy Spirit residing in our lives. {Matthew & Verse 17}.
In a way it is good to promote team belonging, some may even call it ‘team Jesus’ as an endearment, but it is more then that, through repentance and acceptance, we all belong to The Kingdom of God.
Followers of Christ Jesus, don’t get a jersey to put on because of the decision to follow Him, we are given much more, we are given The Holy Spirit to transform our lives.
John 16 verse 13: :When The Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all The Truth”.
The Holy Spirit will guide us into all Truth. All truth, doesn’t have a jersey mentality. All Truth leads us into the deeper knowledge of being en-clothed in Christ Jesus. {Romans 8 verse 1}.
In Christ Jesus, takes us from a doing to be seen, jersey mentality, to living on the fruit , He has planted to grow in our lives. {Galatians 5 verse 22 and 23}.
By their fruits, The fruits of The Spirit are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Gentleness, Self-control.
We should not be happy or content, in our Kingdom Living with just a fruit stained jersey.
Fruit that comes from knowing who we are In Christ, Romans 7 verse 4:
“Therefore, my brothers {or sisters}, you also were put to death in relation to the law through crucified body of The Messiah, so that you may belong to another –to Him who was raised from the dead — that we may bear Fruit for God”.
It is easy to put on a jersey, and even to take it off, but it it harder, to grow the fruit, but the fruit that we grow, should be the evidences, that we are a follower of Our Lord and Our Friend. Evidence that it is Him, we live, and that The Holy Spirit resides in us. Acts 17 verse 28:
“For In Him we live and move and exist, as even the poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring”.
Let us be known by a people bearing fruit for Him, and not by a Christian jersey, we can just put on or take off.
God Bless.
