Wise Strategy
Proverbs 24:6 “Wise strategy is necessary to wage war, and with many
astute advisers you’ll see the path to victory more clearly.” (The Passion
Translation)

As we follow the theme of ‘edification’ this week, my reflection as I was
reading Proverbs chapter 24 today, was on the importance of listening to
Godly advisers in our lives. One definition of edification is ‘the
instruction, improvement or enlightenment of a person’s mind, character
or moral and spiritual well-being”.

James chapter 3:14-17 contrasts earthly, selfish ambition with the pure,
peace-loving wisdom that comes from God, our Lord and our Friend. Verse
17 gives clear insights as to what Godly wisdom looks like. “It is always
pure, filled with peace, considerate and teachable. It is filled with love
and never displays prejudice or hypocrisy in any form, and it always
bears the beautiful harvest of righteousness.”

Ephesians chapter 6:12 NLT “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-
blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen
world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in
the heavenly places.”

As we listen to the exhortations in these passages, let’s respond with
open hearts and open ears before the Lord, so that He can clearly show
us the path to victory. Our Lord and our Friend is the Good Shepherd, Who
leads us by still waters and into green pastures.

Learning to live like this, will enable others to be drawn to the One who
loves us unconditionally and watches over us continually.
Colossians 4:6 ESV “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned
with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
