Faith Of Our Forefathers

Another great Hymn, which we believe can paint a picture in our minds, of the faithful followers of years gone by singing. The words are in old English but the meaning is wonderfully encouraging and still there. So here it is ‘Come Holy Spirit Come’:

V1: Come Holy Spirit come:

Let Thy bright beams arise,

Dispel the darkness from our minds,

And open all our eyes.

V2: Revive our drooping faith,

Our doubts and fears remove.

And kindle in our breasts the flame

Of never -dying love.

V3: Convince us all our sin,

Then lead to Jesus’ blood,

And tp our wondering view reveal

The secrets love of God.

V4: ‘Tis Thine to cleanse the heart,

To sanctify the soul,

To pour fresh life in every part,

And new-create the whole.

V5: Dwell therefore in our hearts,

Our minds from bondage free;

Then we shall know, and praise, and love

The Father, Son and Thee!

We are not sure how old that hymn is, but to sing the words that have been sung down through the passages of time, we are sure will bring a stirring to all our hearts.

Come Holy Spirit.

Revive our drooping faith.

Convince us of our sin {wrong-doings}.

Cleanse our hearts.

Dwell in our hearts.

Our minds free from bondage of sin.

That will shall know, and praise, and love, the God that created more and more.

God Bless.
