Abba Father
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. For you did
not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you received the Spirit of adoption
by whom we cry out, ’Abba Father’.” Romans 8:14-15 NJKV

I love how The Passion Translation brings out these verses. “The mature children of
God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not
receive the ‘spirit of religious duty’, leading you back into the fear of never being
good enough! But you have received the Spirit of full acceptance, enfolding you into
the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our
spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection ‘Beloved Father’.

Verse 16
“For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our
innermost being, ‘you are God’s beloved child.’” Romans 8:14-16 TPT

How wonderful is this salvation which we have in Jesus Christ our Lord. A life of
freedom from feeling not good enough; freedom from bondage to fear – fear of
judgement and the unknown. Our Lord and Friend is with each of us, individually, to
shine a light on our paths through His Word and His Spirit, so we can know the way
to walk.

We have received the Spirit of adoption. This is not just for a select few. Every
born-again believer receives the Spirit of adoption. The precious Holy Spirit. He
leads us. He guides our lives. He testifies to our relationship with God. He comes to
replace our fear of God as judge so we can relate to Him as a loving Father. Holy
Spirit is with us to remind us that we are never alone, Father God is always with us.

I love the words of Jesus in John 14:23 NLT “all who love Me will do what I say. My
Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them”.

This never ceases to amaze and fill me with wonder. Our mighty and gracious
Father, our Lord and our Friend, so loves us that He chooses to come and make His
home in our hearts.
What a thought to ponder.
