Jeremiah has a theme that is just as important for any of us today. God wants His people in Judah to hear from Him during their darkest times.
But Judah darkness came from wickedness, they were committing sins so heinous that they have never entered God’s mind, which also proves no one is far from God, and can come back to Him through repentance and changing our ways to follow Him.
Then a beautiful example of the way we all should be. God the Creator crafts Jeremiah, a caring and very passionate priest, who loves God and His ways and who isn’t afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve.God shares his heart with Jeremiah, and Jeremiah will live it out before the people. God shares with those who love Him, and we shouldn’t be afraid to wear our hearts on our sleeve too.Jeremiah for forty years with tears warns the people of Judah that God is going to let them be conquered by the Babylonians, as punishment for their sins. But no one listens to him.Jeremiah lives to see the judgment he warned the people about. in 605 BC, Babylon attacks Jerusalem and carries off some of the best citizens.
These citizens included Daniel and his three friends.God directs Jeremiah to write a letter to the exiles, telling them to settle down in Babylon because the exile is going to last a while.70 tears. God also tells them it will not last forever. In the midst of Jeremiahs tearful pleadings, God gives him a message of hope. Even though God’s people have broken their covenant with Him, God will establish a new one with them. One day God’s people will genuinely love Him back.
The pain they are going through will be over. We all can take heart and purpose from Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 29 verse 11:“’I know the plans I have for you’, declares The Lord. ‘Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’.”Take heart God has plans for all of us, and if we follow in those plans, we to will wear our heart on our sleeve, so other will know how wonderful Our Lord and Our Friend is.
Jeremiah who at one point tried to keep silent about God’s Word, found that he could not contain it himself. Despite what came against him The Holy Spirit moved the prophet to speak out despite the all the trouble he was having.
Let The Holy Spirit ignite us all afresh, to speak out all Our Lord and Friend has done for us.
God Bless.
