From The Heart

“I have food to eat that you know nothing about”…Jesus said

This reference is found in John chapter 4 verse 32, and Jesus goes on to say to His disciples, “My food is to do the will of Him Who sent me, and to finish His work”.

The world seeks after things to satisfy, and like the lyrics of a song by a famous band, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”. We know that satisfaction and contentment is found ultimately in our Lord and Friend, Jesus Christ – and as Jesus said, “food (nourishment) is found in doing the will of the Father.”

Yet I think there are often times when I have been distracted or allowed myself to become busy, and I too have felt that lack of satisfaction/contentment because I am working to my own schedule and allowing myself to become burdened with the ‘cares of this world’.

I come back to Jesus, humbly cast my cares over onto Him, knowing that He cares for me He has already prepared the good works beforehand for me to walk in, and as I look to Him daily, I know He loves to lead me on.

Many of us, I am sure, can relate to this verse in John 4:32, where we have spent time to encourage someone or minister to them in some way, (sometimes at an inconvenience to our ‘schedule’), and have found that deep satisfaction of soul, knowing that this was the Father’s will for us today. We feel His smile of delight over us and His joy fills our hearts in a way that nothing else compares too.

Grace and favor.
