Created to shine
Recently I was pondering about creativity. In my mind, a creative person was
one who works with their hands – for example – painter, writer, potter , et
cetera. I was reading about the call of Bezaleel and Aholiab in Exodus 31 verses
1-13. Here we see that God filled Bezaleel with the Spirit of God, giving him
great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He worked with gold,
silver and bronze and was skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in
carving wood.
Aholiab was appointed with special skill as a gifted craftsman to make all things
pertaining to the Tabernacle, furnishings and utensils and also beautifully
stitched garments for Aaron and his sons. Here was my idea of what a creative
person was; someone working with their hands to create.
In our day and age, I would see this as referring to people’s careers, whether in
business or other areas of service, serving the community in their particular
field of expertise and meeting different needs.
Then when Jesus, our Lord and Friend came to the earth, the bible tells us He
was anointed (filled with God’s Spirit) to preach the gospel; to heal the sick, to
bring recovery of sight to the blind; and set the captives free.
Wherever you are today, God has anointed you for a particular purpose. Your
creative expression may not look like a painter, singer or designer; but you were
made in the image of the Master Creator. We were created to partner with
Holy Spirit in every area of our lives, including in creativity. You are called. You
are chosen. You have a destiny. God has created you to shine in this season.
You are His ambassador in your family and community, and He enables you to
be all that He dreams for you. He has equipped us with creative ability; He is
our Father who is the Creator of all things.
Ephesians 2:10 New Living Translation10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has
created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long
ago.
Shalom
