Lord empty us of ourselves so we can be filled with You. He can only empty us if we are willing, how much of Him we have in us, is up to our decision.
There is more to accepting Him as Our Redeemer and Savor, in accepting we are giving ourselves to Him, not just part of our lives, but every nook and cranny of us.
We are to be like Christ. We were created in the image of God. God has predestined His People to be conformed to the image of His Son, to become like Him. Romans 8 verse 29;
Time is no consequence to God, He lives in eternity. We were created in eternity, to live with God as an eternal being. God’s first creations Adam and Eve, fell of their own free will, they fell into sin, which was separation from an eternal God. Sin can’t come into the presence of God, hence eternal separation from God for all of His creations.
There was no way, man could come back to God, on His own, we were destined to eternal separation from God, but God had predestined His People to be conformed to the image of His Son. So God has restored it in Christ. John 3 verse 16: It is a choice of any ‘whosoever’ to accept. Conformity to the image of God means to become like Christ. Christ-likeness is the eternal predestining purpose of God.
The purpose of God for His creation, was a predestined purpose, for us to have, Christ-likeness, sin altered that, now we have the choice, through repentance and acceptance of what Christ Jesus did on the Cross, that paid and paved the way back, so we could enter into the predestined purpose God had for us.
By the cross, and by any ‘whosoever’ taking up God’s offer, we become: 1 John 3 verse 2:
“Dear friend, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is.”
1 John 3 verse 3: “And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself just as He is pure.”
Faith in Him, and Hope in Him purifies us, and also transforms us, to become like Him. Christ-likeness. No wonder His Word tells us in, Hebrews 11 verse 6;
“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.”
Faith, That pleases God, allows us to be transformed into Christ likeness.
God Bless.
