Chaplain’s Message
Psalm 24 Verses 1 To 3: “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it the world, and all who live in it; for He founded it on the Seas and established it on the waters. Who may, Ascend the mountain of the Lord?”
Major Angela Eyles shares; Have you ever been on holidays near the beach and watched the ocean? Those4 waves just kept rolling in, one after the other, it is so peaceful.
You glance up into the sky and see the clouds building and you just know there is going to be a storm. Then, with a smile on your face you are filled with a moment of awareness of God’s presence. Turning back to the car you see your family, who you love beyond words, but they are behaving just as families behave and suddenly your deeply spiritual moment is gobbled up as quickly as a chip is eaten by a seagull.
Many a time I have questioned God; “How can I count myself worthy when spiritual moments can disappear so easily?”
On one special day I had this exact experience, but God took me one step further. The wind picked up and blew my hat towards the water. I turned back towards the ocean, and as I chased my hat, I was struck by the way nothing else had changed; the waves were still rolling in as before, the clouds were gathering near the horizon, and the seagulls were still attaching the chips that my children had left behind on the bench. My choice, the peacefulness of the ocean, or the stress of the busy family? That day God said— “I am with you regardless”.
I had to remind myself that my issues that were so very important were also temporary. I chose to acknowledge that everything I could see did belong to God. The earth is His, everything in it and all who live in it.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your creation that shouts your greatness, and for life itself.
God Blessings
