We are a consuming society, but what are we consuming? Are we taking the time to consume a smorgasbord of God’s Word?
We could be consuming a smorgasbord of information and teaching, but it still leaves a hunger for God’s Word.
We all have favorite foods, depending on where we live, and we love to digest lot of that food. Do we have the same passion for Consuming the things God has for our lives? Sometimes these things might not be sweet as we like, but like medicine, we will be a lot better for it.
In John chapter 4 Jesus is speaking with the Samaritan woman, there is a lot in that story, but lets concentrate on verse 10:
“Jesus answered, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you,’Give me a drink’, you would ask Him, and He would give you living water’.”
We all should be thirsty for that Water!
All the Words that Jesus speaks are meaningful and edifying, and if we look at, “If you knew the gift of God, and who is saying to you”.
We should look back Matthew 7 verses 13 to 23: Talking about entering The Kingdom. again concentrating on one of the verses, verse 23;
Jesus speaking, “Then I will announce to them, ‘I never KNEW you’.”
The word Knew from John 4 verse 10, should have great meaning for us.
Do we know Jesus? In the way He wants us to know Him, or do we just know about Him, there is a ‘difference’ that will mean a great ‘difference’ one day, when Jesus comes to acknowledge us before the Father.
If we Know The Gift of God, and brings that Gift, by dying in our place on The Cross, we would know the living water He has to offer, and would be regularly partaking of it.
John 6 verses 22 to 59: Concentrating on verse 35:
“‘I am the bread of life,’ Jesus told them. ‘No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again’.”
To the world that must sound crazy, Jesus saying He is living water and the bread of life. But to those who KNOW him, He is our all-sufficiency.
We can know Jesus as a historical figure, but lets be people who KNOW Him as Their Lord, Their Redeemer, Their Friend and Their All-sufficiency.
God Bless.
