Take heed….

Jesus is speaking in Mark 4:24-25 “Then He said to them, ‘Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him”

In Mark chapter 4, Jesus explains the Parable of the Sower. He is telling us the importance of what we hear – what we listen to. I believe He is warning us, not only about the spoken words that we are hearing from others, but also what are our words to ourselves? – what are our thoughts about ourselves? – are they lining up with what the Lord says about us in His Word?

In Mark 4:15, we see that it’s the enemy who comes to steal the word that’s been sown in hearts.

Mark 4:18 -19 goes on to say how “the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things, entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

Proverbs 4:23-24 AMP says “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that your guard, for out of it flow the springs of life. Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far away from you”.

Scripture says -“Therefore, take no thought, saying….” Matt 6:31. Jesus is speaking here too. Let’s be aware of our thoughts. What are the things we are allowing our minds to dwell on? And then, what are we speaking?

Isaiah 57:19 “I create the fruit of the lips; peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, says the LORD, ‘And I will heal him’”

Wow, how powerful is this scripture! God is so, so good. His desire is to provide all our needs (according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus). And He shows us how to link in to His power and provision by lining up our thoughts, words, and heart with His Word. Believing Him. Trusting Him. Holy Spirit is our Helper, Teacher.

God has not given us a ‘spirit’ of fear – but of power and love and a sound mind. We just need to agree with Him; receive, and fight the good fight of faith. John 6:29 NLT “Jesus told them, ‘This is the only work God wants from you: believe in the One He has sent’”.
