My Lord My Friend

Matthew 11:28-30  NLT “ Then Jesus said, ‘Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry any burdens, and I will give you rest.  For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’”

I love this scripture.  

Firstly Jesus said – ‘come to Me’.  What an invitation – this is the first step.  Hebrews 4:16 says we can “come boldly before the throne of grace to receive mercy and find HELP in time of need”.  We respond to His invitation by coming and handing over our burdens.  Talking to Jesus as we would our best friend.  Jesus loves us more and understands us better than anyone.

Jesus says ‘ I WILL give you rest’

Scripture tells us that the Kingdom of God is righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.  We are made righteous when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are designed for peace and joy. 

Jesus said ‘My peace I leave with you:

Psalm 16:11 says in His Presence is FULLNESS OF JOY.  Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit – He is always with us.

Psalm 23 says: He makes us lie down in green pastures – leads us beside still waters – restores our soul. He leads us in paths of righteousness for HIS Name’s sake.  

His yoke is easy.  As we are yoked to Him, He takes the lead as well as the weight (burden), as we walk in step with Him. Then our burden becomes light – He carries it.  He daily bears our burdens.
