ON THE WINGS OF THE WIND

God delights in us as his children but like children, our inner child becomes frightened and calls out to God, the father, to soothe and nurture and ask for his help. In Psalm 18, ‘In my distress I cried out to my God for help.’ From his temple God heard the cry and in his anger, the earth trembled and quaked, smoke from his nostrils blew and fire blazed from his mouth. He parted the heavens and with dark clouds under his feet to come down.

He soared on the wings of the wind amidst the dark rain clouds of the skies. Can you imagine how seriously HE took this crying call for help and in the power of his reaction where the brightness of his presence produced thunder and lightning?

Verse 14 ‘The voice of the most High resounded, he shot his arrows and scattered the enemies.’ All this – for us, to be soothed and nurtured, this frightened, inner child in us. WOW! He rescued us from a powerful enemy, from foes who were too strong and intent on going to send us into dark waters. What amazing love! Some reasons WHY explain the love of the Lord is in verses 18 to 33.

But the Lord was my support. He brought us into a spacious place, rescued me because he delighted in me. Because I have kept the word of the Lord, have not done evil by turning from my God.

He has dealt with me according to the cleanness of my hands. To the faithful, you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you are also. To the pure you are pure. You, my Lord, keep my lamp burning, my God turns darkness into light. With my God I can scale a wall. The word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. It is God who arms me with strength and made my way perfect. He makes my feet like that of a deer to enable us to stand in the heights.

Such love and rewards are ours. We are blessed and nurtured in his eternal love.

Be Blessed
