Faith In Action ‘Key Is To Believe’

John’s teachings are to lead believers into a life of divine friendship with Our Lord and Our Friend.
The key word in this Gospel is ‘believe’. It is so important that it can be discovered  98 times in the Gospel of John. Like a parent repeating the same set of instructions to their teenager to lodge it in their minds, so too is God trying to draw your attention to just how important belief is.

John’s aim in this gospel was to confirm and reveal the deity of our Lord Jesus in every chapter he wrote,  so we can see Jesus’s deity for ourselves.
In every Chapter we see Jesus Deity:

John teaching reveals some of what in the day, must have been startling claims:
First Claims to be equal with God: in John 5 Verse 17: “But Jesus responded to them, ‘My Father is still working, and I am working also’.”
The religious people of the day, knew what He meant. He made Himself equal with God.

Second Claims to be light of the world:  in John 8 Verse 12: “Then Jesus spoke to them again: ‘I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life’.”

Third Claims to be eternal with God: in John 8 Verse 58: “Jesus said to them, ‘I assure you: Before Abraham was I am’.”  This claim of eternity with God was unmistakable. He was either the Son of God or a deceiver.

The Gospel of John verses 1 to 5 starts: V1:“In the beginning was the Word, and this Word was with God, and the Word was God
V2: “He was with God in the beginning”,
V3: “All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created”.
V4: “Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men {and Women}”.
V5: “That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it”.

The Apostle Paul confirms this in Book of Acts. Chapter 17 Verse 28: “For in Him we live and move and exist”.

Only believe, that Jesus is Who He said He is, and accept Him as Lord of our lives.

It is only by having a relationship with Christ Jesus that we will experience the richness of God.
We become a Child of God by receiving Jesus.
Jesus can forgive even our most dreadful sins.
Though we fail at times, Jesus extends His forgiveness to us.

Jesus’ last words in His Gospel are  ‘you must follow me’.
This is for all of us, may we all follow Our Lord and Our Friend in loving obedience till He comes again.
Nothing more surer

God Bless
