If this is your day for rest, like us all you still need encouragement. Be encouraged today by this wonderful verse from Psalm 150 verse 6:
Psalm 150 verse 6: “Let everything the breaths praise the Lord. Hallelujah!”
When we read and study Psalms, we meet with joy and sorrow, tears and trails, pain and pleasure, but the Book of Psalms closes on the highest note of praise!
Joy and sorrow, extremes of emotion, and if we only praise during joyous times, we are losing apart of the real joy we can have, by praising the Lord, even in our sorrows.
When faced with a particular difficulty or decision, one of the best ways to settle ourselves down and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding”. which is taken from Proverb 3 verse 5, New living translation, is to begin gleaning from Psalms, asking Our Lord to give us not an answer but an attitude.
We can often find that reading a Psalm, that we are already familiar with will suddenly take on a new significance, when we read it when we are in the face of difficulties and sorrow.
Our Lord uses circumstances to speak to our lives, not just only good circumstance, but in every circumstance that comes our way whether good or bad. After all He should be Lord of ALL.
Reading through Psalms, can become a powerful way of calming us and reminding us that God is Sovereign and has everything under control.
Psalm remind us, how much we need Him, Psalm 23: “Though we walk through”, He is with us. By spending time gleaning from the Psalms, they will prepare us to recognize God no matter what circumstances we are in, no matter what we go through, He is with Us, and will never leave us or forsake us.
Our Gleaning should also lead us into Praise, for the wonderful Lord and Friend He is.
