Scripture Verse Of The Week

trust

John 13 Verse 17: “If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them”.

We all know the story of Jesus washing His disciples feet at the last supper.

John Chapter 13: Many still do the practice today, as an action of service.

V12: “when Jesus had washed their feet and put on His robe, Hr reclined again and said to them, ‘Do you know what I have done for you’?”

V13: “You call Me teacher and Lord. This is well said, for I am”.

V14: “So if I, Your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet”.

V15: “For I have given you an example that you also should do just as I have done for you”.

V16: “i assure you; A slave is not greater than his master, and a messenger is not greater than one who sent him”.

So! Jesus washed their feet, so now we are suppose to wash feet too, some might say, that is only the start of good intention.

But it is not so much about the washing of feet. It is more about the cultural side. Our Lord and Our Friends command culturally. Jesus had just performed what in the culture at the time, was the work of a slave, so we in our cultures must regard no task to menial or degrading to undertake for each other.ministry

I was watching the story of a man who pastored a great work, even in His late years in the ministry, he was still seen picking up paper in the church car park. Even though he pastored a great work nothing was to menial in his ministry in the church.

Christ likeness, going out of our way to serve other. Christ came to be incarnate in flesh, to show us how. Christ likeness involves, Like Him in service, Like Him in love, like Him in endurance and like Him in mission.

God Bless.
