Faith In Action ‘Don’t Let Familiarity Breed Contempt t

There is an old saying ‘familiarity’ breeds contempt. Familiarity is one of the greatest dangers to our faith.

But the trouble is our Faith is too big to get familiar with. We can never know everything about the God we serve there is always more for us to know. So if we think we are becoming ‘familiar’ {have a thorough knowledge of} with our Faith, we really need to come before The Throne afresh and ask for help. Hebrews 4 verse 16.

Sometimes we may think that we have heard the message of the gospel so many times, it is losing it impact on us. Then we have become out of step with our heavenly and eternal destiny, Luke 15 verse 7 tells us:

“I tell you, in the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over the 99 righteous people who don’t need repentance.”

Living Christianity is based on a relationship with Christ, so it is Him Who we neglect, when we feel we have come familiar with our faith.

If we let ‘familiarity’ breed in our life, we are in danger of becoming Laodicean people, Revelation 3 verse 13 to 15; Using verse 15:

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot.’

Familiarity, can erode our faith, if we open our hearts to the prompting of The Holy Spirit, we will become aware that God is at work in our lives. When He expresses Himself through our lives, our Christianity becomes alive and meaningful and you change because Christ has changed your heart. This is glorious growth and excitement in the life of any follower.

Keeping our hearts open, so we can rejoice with Angels when one who was lost, finds The Love, The Purpose and The Destiny, our creator God has for us all.

Keeping ourselves open to the leading of The Holy Spirit, and we will never lose our compassion, for the tasks He would have us do.

God Bless.
