Weekend Inspiration

Following on from my last article, ‘TAKING US TO THE LIMIT’, I was reminded  again that when our lives seem to be taking a dive off a cliff we can turn to God’s word and trust completely in it.  We may not hear what we hoped for but HIS truth will impart a wisdom and comfort that touches your heart. In Isaiah, Chapter 55, the heading reads ‘Invitation to the thirsty.’ To read that whole chapter your thirst will be quenched.  With such words as: ‘Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.’ confirms that he is never far from us. In verses 8 to 10, more reassuring words, ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways’. declares the Lord.

We are being told that our solutions are not the powerful answers that our God may instead guide us to. Therefore, listen and hear the word of God.  Continue on to verse 8, ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts’. There is no earthly comparison to the depth and height of God’s word He is declaring to us. The reading goes on to declare…..(verse 10-11)  so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                God reminds us then that what his word promises HE fulfills, what HE says he means.                                                                                                                                               Having reassured us that His word is truth he gives us this reminder, ‘You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace, the mountains and hills will burst into song before you.’

So trust completely that God is a God of his word despite your despair you will be led forth in peace.  What a powerful promise.
