One would hardly think that if we were in captivity in a foreign country, we were in God’s place for us, or God’s timing for us.Then even though we were in a pretty comfortable position in the king of that countries service, we find he wanted to kill us, along with all of his wisest men.
Well this happened to Daniel, and this is not the story where Daniel survived the lions. it was before Daniel even got to those circumstances.
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, a dream that troubled him. Daniel Chapter 2: Even though Nebuchadnezzar was a powerful ruler, and though he had power and fame, he did not have peace.
Because of a dream he was troubled and could not sleep. His wisest men could not interpret the dream and therefore all of them were to be killed, including Daniel.
There are many times in Daniel’s life, where he must have wondered, was he in God’s place and in God’s timing. Daniel life was in serious trouble, yet Daniel simply trusted his God,
While Daniel was sleeping, God revealed the dream to him. We can take great encouragement from this, because Daniel was the one who had the peace, because he trusted God, Nebuchadnezzar who represent the world had no peace.
This story is an example for us all, what a wonderful thing, to have peace in God in the most trying circumstances, it might not have seemed like it, but Daniel was in a place where God wanted him to be, at a time God wanted him to be there.
Daniel 2 verse 24: “Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had assigned to destroy the wise men of Babylon! Bring me before the king, and I will give him the interpretation.”
Down to verses 27 to 29:: One of the reasons why Daniel was in God’s place and God’s timing for his life.
V27: “Daniel answered the king; ‘no wise man, medium, diviner-priest, or astrologer is able to make known to the king the mystery he asked about.”
V28: “But there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has let King Nebuchadnezzar know what will happen in the last days. Your dream and visions that came into your mind as you lay in bed were these.”
V29: “Your majesty, while you were in your bed, thoughts came to your mind about what will happen in the future, The Reveal-er of mysteries has let you know what will happen.”
Sometimes it may not seem we are in the right place because of circumstances around our lives, but Daniel because he trusted in his God, we read in verse 47: “The king said to Daniel, ‘Your God is indeed God of gods, Lord of kings, and a reveal-er of mysteries, since you were able to reveal this mystery.”
By Daniel’s faith and Trust, the king who represents the world, acknowledge Daniel’s God as God of gods, Lord of kings, and Daniel was promoted by the world system at the time, to ruler over the entire province of Babylon.
Daniel was even going to be test in that position later, by being thrown into a lions den, but there is no denying Daniel was in God’s place for him. and in God’s timing for him.
No matter what place we are in at the moment, trust Our Lord and Our Friend, to use us for His Glory, that the world around us may come know about Him too.
