Trust
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”
This Scripture was one of the first that I was introduced to when I gave my life to the
Lord, and it is one that I come back to regularly. Over the last 40 plus years of
walking with our Lord and Friend, I have found that He is faithful and trustworthy. It
has been my experience that He allows us to grow in our trust of Him as we walk
through seasons of our lives.

One definition of Trust, refers to entering into a state of vulnerability with the potential
of being hurt or disappointed. Trust involves risk. Different leadership models
mention 4 key dimensions; competence, character or reliability, consistency and
care, compassion or connection.
From a newborn baby, to toddler, child, youth and to adulthood, we are learning to

trust for our needs to be met and growing in our ability to trust the Lord and to rely on
Him to direct our paths.
Matthew 18:3 “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will
never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the
greatest in the kingdom”.

Some aspects of childlike faith are; 1. A humble state of mind; 2. Asking questions;
3. Wonder and curiosity; 4. Trusting; 5. Hopeful.
I think this Scripture Matthew 18:3 goes well with Proverbs 3:5-6. Our Lord Jesus
was not referring to being childish but rather to wonderful aspects of childlike faith
which include the ability to be humble and trusting. Humility, questions, wonder,
trust and hope, are ways to lead and interact with others, and also to help with
making decisions in our life.

As we lean on our Lord and Friend, commit our ways to Him and trust that He will
give us wisdom and direction, He will “lead us in the paths of righteousness for His
Names sake.”
