A POWER PRAYER
The power of an addiction, to a substance or a person, introduces an absence and a coldness of feeling within. It seems to me, the body has bones and a heart but emotional connection to others shuts down. So then does their awareness of God/Spirit opportunities or of divine appointed possibilities that disappear over the horizon.
The hunger of the substance, or person, takes over. To combat the heartache of this occurrence, we spiritual believers offer up fervent prayer. The outcome of the situation is entirely in God’s loving hands and we are expected to take our hands off our loved ones, for our God to touch their lives with mercy and compassion.
It may take a long time and his answer may not be the one you expect but it will be his.The situation, either way, will be tough or a setting free with trust and faith, as we abide in his faithful judgement of love. There is a hope however in Ezekiel, chapter 37, in a promise of cleansing from our God. Verse 25 to 28.‘I will sprinkle clean water on you and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols (substance or person abuse).
I will give you a new heart (of feeling emotions) and put a new spirit in you. I will receive from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws……….and I will be your God (verse 28).
Forgive this humble writer for taking this Biblical passage somewhat out of context but this is also a prayerful hope for my own addicted loved ones.
SET THEM FREE LORD.
