Isaiah 7 Verse 9: “if you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all”.
This verse from Isaiah chapter 7, where the King Ahaz of Judah and the people, were quite scared of the approaching enemy.
King Ahaz did not know what to do, or where to turn for help or advice. Like everything God knows all about us all, at any time. God sends Isaiah, his prophet, to reassure the king.
Isaiah tells King Ahaz, what God told him to tell King Ahaz, ‘Keep wide awake, but stay calm, you have nothing to fear from the approaching enemy’.
But like us all at times, Ahaz listened but he did not obey. He was not willing to sit still and wait for God to save him. We know God’s promises are true, but sometimes we like to do things our own way.
Psalm 23 verse 4; ‘Even when I go through the darkest valley”. Our Lord and Our Friends promises are true. So stand firm in our faith, and realize the truth of the rest of the verse, ‘I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff –they comfort me”.
So we can be like King Ahaz, and be scared when bad things appear to surround us and we can go off and do our own thing. Or we can stand firm in faith, and in Our lord and our Friend’s wonderful promises.
His promises are true, and no matter what comes our way He is always with us to help us through. Hebrews 1 verse 5;
We can read the trouble King Ahaz got into, doing things his own way, and learn like he did, that it is better to trust Our Lord and Our Friend, because He knows the plans He has for all our lives, Jeremiah 9 verse 11;
