Over the Years there is one thing, I wished I had done more is listen. Listen more to family instead of making myself busy, listen more in class in a place where I could learn more. But most importantly to listen to God more, who has great love for us all.
Finally when I started to listen more, I realized listening is more effective than talking. When we listen we gain understanding, most importantly of what God wants us to know. By listening to others we can hear things they might be going through, then it is the time to talk and share,
To Listen to God is to follow Him. In listening to Him and receiving the Gospel message, The Holy Spirit is given, given to those who know their sins are forgiven, through what Our Lord and Our Friend did on the cross for us.
From the Old Testament, Samuel learned to listen for God’s voice:
1 Samuel 3 verse 10: “The Lord came, stood there, and called as before, ‘Samuel, Samuel!’ Samuel listened and responded, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening’.”
In the New Testament. Jesus is The Good Shepherd and His followers listen to Him: John 10 verses 14 to 16:
V14: I am the good shepherd, I know My own sheep, and they know Me,”
V15: as The father knows me, and I know The Father, I lay down My life for my sheep”.
V16;”But I have other sheep that are not of this fold; i must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. There will be one flock, one shepherd.”
Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Our Friend is the Great Shepherd and we who have accepted Him are all His flock.
Take the time to listen today to our Good Shepherd, He wants to lead us to green pastures and beside still waters in our busy lives.
Take the time to listen to the awesomeness of His creation all around us, and learn from it how awesome God really is.
Take time to listen to others, there are a lot of hurting people out there, who need to know somebody cares, and about the Awesome God that loves them, if we take the time to listen.
Become a listener, and the effect of our Faith In Action will increase.
