We use the example of the Christian life being like a journey. Not being judgmental, but we will give you an example from the Gospel of Luke chapter 18: The Parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. This depicts the right and the wrong way, along life’s road. The Pharisee congratulates himself for his righteous character and good works. But self-righteousness and self-congratulations do not please A Holy God. The Pharisee’s trouble was not that he was not as far along the road as he thought he was, but he was on the wrong road altogether.
It did not matter how far he went along the road of self-salvation, he was completely off course with God. Where as the tax-collector placed himself on the mercy of God, the Pharisee relied on self-salvation.
There is nothing we can do to make Our Lord and Our Friend love us more, He loved us so much, He die on the Cross and rose again to give us a new way to live. the only thing we can do is, just be on our journey through life with complete trust in Him.
