In The Book of James, we read about the process of temptation.
James 1 verses 14 and 15:
V14: “But each person is tempted when he {or she} is drawn away and enticed by his {or Her} own evil desire”.
V15: “Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death”.
James description of temptation is very interesting, and the way he states it is very enlightening. First comes a desire, which lures and entices and give birth to sin {wrong doings} by wrong actions.Thee actions have consequences far beyond what was intended or envisaged, death.
A desire comes to us. There is not much we can do about it, just as we can’t prevent the trials that come to us from the outside. Our response to these desires and trials is the important part. Often enough, we entertain the desire, ponder it and start to e enticed by it. Then we act.
Like everything we do this has consequences, and the consequences we thought would be harmless, are beyond what we could have imagined.
Temptation is destructive deception, most likely to effect our walk with Our Lord and Our Friend. Not all is lost at this point:
1 John 1 verse 9: “If we confess our sins {wrong doings}, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
If we are truly walking with Him, we will want to keep short accounts in talking to Him about them, and not let anything grow through wrongful desires or actions, that will keep us separated from Him. Remember He is Faithful and Righteous.
God Bless.
